A South African Painting Holiday (#731)
Day 1
Met at Durban airport and transferred to your hotel in Umhlanga. Enjoy a bit of leisure time to find your feet, maybe Sketch the lighthouse. In the evening you will meet your tutor/artist, Gill to enjoy a chat and dinner together Day 2 Depart for a Wetland Park world heritage site. In the afternoon a delightful boat cruise to see hippos and crocodiles and lunch on the boat. Your first painting session in the afternoon, at the Lodge. Day 3 A day of art planned, at an excellent site near the estuary, with sea views, estuary views, birds and hippos! Under the guidance of your tutor begin to enjoy painting under African skies! We won't even interrupt you as lunch will be packed. Day 4 Time in the morning to complete your paintings under the gazebo before departing to a glorious site with true Zulu Culture. A tour of the village, get to know the people then an opportunity to paint or sketch in this unique Zulu environment. A vibrant show of Zulu dancing and then to bed in a traditional style Zulu "beehive" Day 5 You will have time to complete your sketches before departing for the Anglo Zulu Battlefields. Once we arrive you will be eager to catch the afternoon light during your afternoon of painting session with Gill on hand for advice. Day 6 A local specialist storyteller-guide will tell you the story of great battles from this area. Lunch will be a picnic in the battlefields and a painting session in tranquility. Later from the lodge patio, overlooking the local village, you can enjoy painting the hill of Isandlawana. Day 7 Departing for the most beautiful 5 star lodge and a true safari experience. After a welcoming lunch we'll waste no time before setting off on your first game drive, as the sun sets you'll enjoy sundowners in the bush listening to the animals before returning to the lodge for dinner. Day 8 Early morning game drive and a morning of painting with the guidance of your tutor, This painting spot is to die for! Then another game drive to search for the Big 5! Day 9 Enjoy the magic of the African Bush and paint this magical scenery. Game drives are available and a bush walk could be a good idea. Day 10 Off to the second World Heritage site The Magnificent Drakensberg Mountains a lovely journey with picturesque scenery Day 11 Get comfortable and paint this incredible range of mountains, an artists delight then an afternoon to enjoy the walks soak up the vistas. Day 12 Up the Sani Pass today in 4x4 vehicles. It's a great photographic and cultural opportunity for future paintings! Lunch in the highest pub in the world then back to the hotel for a session of painting Day 13 Departure day � however you do have a morning to relax before departing for Durban and your flight home * Certain holidays for people who are 50 years old or more have 5% off and * There are special discounts for groups of 10 painters What a fabulous holiday and a guarantee of some terrific painting opportunities.
