Purpose of courses
The acquisition, during a stay of intensive work, of technical sculptural workmanship, and the development of a rational system of approaching both material and form (in marble, wood, clay, etc).
All learning is conducted in small groups through a direct interpersonal relationship between teacher and student (of various ages, nationalities and levels of skill).

One two-week course:
Course “A” 1050,00 Euro (manual workmanship)
Course “B” and “C” 1130,00 Euro (workmanship with mechanical tools)
Inclusive of: materials, use of work tools, shared accommodation, tutors, recreational area and kitchen.
Exclusive of: travel, food, packing and forwarding of completed work (if necessary).

The courses are intended as “training”, but they can also be considered as an “alternative vacations”.
In fact, Carrara’s geographic position offers visitors easy access by road and train to the main cities of art, such as Florence, Siena, Pisa, Cinqueterre or others .
The beaches of Marina di Carrara are only 10 km away and visitors may wish to explore the Apuan Alps that rise from the sea to around 2000 meters.

Length of courses
Each course begins on a Monday and lasts for a period of two weeks.
Arrival is scheduled for the Sunday preceding the beginning of the course. Accommodations should be vacated before 10:00a.m. on the Sunday following the end of the course.

Assistance
A teacher is present Monday to Friday from 9:00am until 12:00 noon, and from 2:00pm until 5:00pm. On Saturdays, from 9:00am until 12:00 noon. Students may also work outside the above-mentioned hours without the teacher’s presence.

Educational requirements, in particular for the teaching of specialized sculptural techniques, may also result in other professional sculptors and freelance professionals being present.

Equipment
For manual workmanship: tools will be provided by the studio. For workmanship with mechanical tools: the studio will provide air hammers and electric-mechanical hammers, (chisels are excluded).
For other mechanical equipment, such as disk-cutting machines, students are asked to provide their own disks or procure them locally.
Students may also utilise their own tools, if they are considered adequate.
-All equipment agreed for use by the studio conforms to current regulations.
-The equipment granted for use cannot be handed over or used by third parties
-The user will be informed in advance about the correct use and maintenance of tools that are offered for use.

Material
A sufficient amount will be made available by the studio for practising during the entire course, the cost of which is included in the course fee. For marble, in particular, an assortment of small regular and irregular block will be made available (maximum + - 50 kilos).
-Upon request, we can provide marble or other stones cut to size, upon estimate of expenses.
-Students may keep their final work of art. (Only In case course C Courses for special stone and marble techniques, resulting work will remain in the ownership of the studio –as programme-)Outfitting
Working with maximum regards to safety is extremely important.
Protective glasses, gloves, comfortable work clothing and sturdy shoes should be worn.
Mechanical workmanship: headsets and masks should be used.
