Iceland Drawing and Painting Workshop at Heriot Toun Studio
Contact us for dates

This is an opportunity to put together all your information acquired on the Iceland Adventure trip, with Nicky’s guidance and suggestions.

The owner of the studio, painter Pat Law, has visited Iceland many times and will be willing to let us see some of her photographs and work from Iceland as a starting point. Heriot Toun is a fantastic purpose built studio space in the Scottish Borders, south of Edinburgh with its own geothermal heating, inspired by Iceland.

Over two days we will discuss and work on developing your sketches and photographs to a stage where you can begin to make finished work. We will examine the idea of a theme running through your work and reassess the impact that the Icelandic experience had on each individual’s creative process.

This is a non residential weekend.

Laura is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art and an experienced artist and teacher who offers regular courses in and around Scotland. This will be Laura’s 9th year taking students to Kefalonia. She has lived and travelled widely in Greece. Now, together with her husband Dimitri, she owns a house in the hills above Fiscardo.

Nicky graduated from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen and the Slade School of Fine Art, London and has more than 10 years tutoring experience. She lived and worked with her husband Juan in Mexico for several years and is a fluent Spanish speaker, leading our holidays to Andalucia where her family have lived for 4 generations. Nicky is also a qualified Scottish Tourist Guide.

What a fantastic week we have all shared! I still feel as though I've had an 'out of life' experience. I shall never forget it.

I have such pleasant memories of the Mijas 'holiday'; Nicky put together such a well-balanced trip and the company was delightful too. I hope I can take part again next year.

I remember fondly the week-end at Cattlerline and also our holiday in Mexico.
H Urquhart,

It was a really splendid weekend and I loved every minute of it.
Marie Peltenburg, Catterline, Scotland

It was thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end - and good for you for keeping such a bunch of individualists jogging along harmoniously together!

The scenery was insiprational everywhere we went. The teaching was excellent, as was the organisation at every level and the group atmostphere was utterly relaxed and friendly. I can't wait to book up for next year.
Morag Boag Thomson, Edinburgh

From the first...to the last...it was a wonderful experience.
DK, Summer Isles 2008

I just loved the whole experience!
Jennifer Tanner, Andalucia

Just a note to say thank you for a most enjoyable and instructive week. I feel I have learnt so much and am motivated to do more drawing and carry a sketch-book.
ML, Cephalonia

The time and effort spent on planning and organisation must have been considerable but the fact that everything ran so smoothly was testament to that and made it all the more enjoyable for the group.
Kay, Cephalonia

We had excellent tuition, a fantastic studio to work in; the views were very dramatic and atmospheric.
Marie Peltenburg, Catterline, Scotland
