Finca las Nuevas is a traditional 200 year old restored farm house in a peaceful rural location high above the bustling little town of Álora. It has three comfortable and tastefully decorated houses with terraces from which to contemplate and paint the ever changing views. (www.lasnuevas.co.uk)
From the garden, surrounded by evergreen oaks and carob trees, we can study the colours and textures of the hills. We will make trips in our own minibus (with packed lunches or stop in tapas bars) to exciting drawing locations in the local area such as the dramatic El Chorro Gorge on the Guadalhorce river and the beautiful Natural Park of El Torcal with its fantastic lunar type karstic rock formations.
You will have the option to visit Málaga and its Moorish Alcazába or Antequera, to see the prehistoric Dolmens and the famously romantic Peñon de los Amantes. After a busy day, you will enjoy relaxing with a cool drink beneath the vines and olive trees back at the Finca, or have a dip in the solar heated swimming pool, which is easily the best place to enjoy seeing the sun sinking slowly behind the hills.
This week can be treated as a week on its own for building drawing, colour and composition skills with fun exercises, or it can be used as a continuation of the previous Mijas week, where you can rise to the challenge of drawing with paint in a secure and friendly environment. It suits all levels.
Guided Walks, Massages and Body Harmony sessions as well as a Mosaic workshop are also available, so please ask.
This Escape includes:
Welcome dinner with wine
Return flights from Edinburgh
Return transfers to Malaga airport, all transport during the week
Art tutoring (approx 5 hours per day)

Just a note to say thank you for a most enjoyable and instructive week. I feel I have learnt so much and am motivated to do more drawing and carry a sketch-book.
ML, Cephalonia
The time and effort spent on planning and organisation must have been considerable but the fact that everything ran so smoothly was testament to that and made it all the more enjoyable for the group.
Kay, Cephalonia
We had excellent tuition, a fantastic studio to work in; the views were very dramatic and atmospheric.
