Outdoor Photography with Kevin Thomas (#124)
We have all been frustrated with our photgraphic efforts at some time or other. Too light, too dark, heads or feet chopped off or our favourite aunt totally unrecognisable appearing as a pinhead in the distance. All too often we see our pictures and wonder why we wasted our time and money.
This course will help address these problems and is aimed at all levels of ability. Kevin Thomas will help guide you through the various mysteries of outdoor photography. His course will explore cameras, lenses, filters, films and other associated equipment. Using the studio and the impressive grounds of Glynhir he will explain and discuss the issues involved with lighting and composition. Kevin is planning, weather permitting, a field trip to our local castle ‘Carreg Cennen’ that perches dramatically on the craggy cliffs above the river Cennen and also other scenic venues. Participants are also encouraged to bring samples of their work for a positive critique. The course will start on the first evening with an informal get together and a slide show at which Kevin will outline his ideas and plans for the course. The course will start on Friday evening with an informal get together and a slide show at which Kevin will outline his ideas and plans for the weekend. Kevin Thomas is a professional photographer and author. He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and also an MA (documentary photograph). His photography encompasses a wide range of subjects from studio to landscape and he has taught practical photography during his thirty-five years working within the medium. Kevin’s talent, enthusiasm and experience combined with his skill in teaching gives him the confidence to say, “by the end of the course each student will be able to produce photographs to be proud of”. Partners may enjoy walking in the beautiful gardens and woodlands of Glynhir or on the slopes of the near by Black Mountain and the Brecon Beacons National Park. ‘Golfing Weekends’ and ‘Garden Visiting’ breaks are also available.
